Dimitri Glaros

Biography

Dimitri Glaros is a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a BA in Music Composition. His primary areas of musical practice are classical piano, Byzantine chant, Greek and Balkan music traditions, jazz, and cross-cultural improvisation. Dimitri's experience with the music and culture of southeast European countries in the domain of REEEC such as Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria, opened him up to collaborating with the center on outreach events and working in the office. He looks forward to continuing to give outreach presentations and improve educational materials, while gaining more knowledge of REEEC regions and activities.

Ideology and constructions of Greek identity in music, especially the theory and practice of Byzantine chant

Modal theory of Byzantine and Maqam music
